WELCOME TO STRAY DOG PRODUCTIONS
Intended to discover, create, and nourish new independent films and filmmakers, Stray Dog
Productions is built on the belief that cinema, as both an art form and an industry, stands on the
brink of change. Be it from technological advances, sweeping social change, or more often a
combination of the two, the cinema has recreated itself several times over the past century. That
time has come once again. Audiences want it, filmmakers need it, and investors are beginning to
believe in it. If change is eminent, it is better to ride the forefront of that wave than to stay
in shallow waters waiting for the tides to settle.
A budding production company, Stray Dog Productions is approaching its future one film at a time.
With goals of being a fully operational production house that seeks out filmmakers with a clear vision
of the films they want to make, we intend to achieve those goals one step, one film, one success at a
time. The first feature film coming out of Stray Dog Productions is the mysterious examination of love,
sex, and attraction titled Chronicles of a Love Unfound.
WHERE STRAY DOG IS GOING
Cinema is a globally influential art form that can cross boundaries of sex, language, culture, and ideology. It is also an extremely competitive and profitable industry. Although cinema is one of the few art forms that encapsulates both worlds so completely, lately it seems the latter is much more influential. Is it true that the selection of films being made is no longer based on concept or story, but rather on the film's projected profit margin? More often than not that is the case. Brazilian filmmaker Julio Garcia Espinosa, asserted that cinema would never be a true art form, such as painting or poetry, until any citizen from any walk of life could create it on his or her own. Film has always been closely tied to high costs, and only now, in the digital age, has this begun to change. Although technology and a growing independent community have made low-budget films much more feasible than in the past, someone is still needed to exist between artists and investors. That is where Stray Dog Productions will fit into place, we are dedicated to running efficient, professional productions that will rival any multi-million-dollar studio production, but will make films with an unapologetic respect and protection of the artist and their vision. Stray Dog Productions is committed to the concept that great films and great cinema come from great stories, ideas, and artistry. It's not about the action figures and promotional tie in deals, it's about creating a community of filmmakers and filmgoers who love the cinema for its artistry, characters, stories, emotional highs and lows. It's about understanding. It's about expression. It's about film over fame.
